Sr. Microbiologist – Cosmetic Mfg. – 3+ Yrs – Bavla, Ahmedabad

HCP Wellness is hiring an experienced Senior Microbiologist for its cosmetic manufacturing facility in Bavla, Ahmedabad. The selected candidate will manage microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, laboratory documentation and quality-compliance activities to help ensure product safety and manufacturing quality.

Key Responsibilities
✔Perform and review microbiological testing of raw materials, process water, bulk products and finished goods.
✔Conduct microbial limit, total viable count, yeast, mould and specified pathogen testing.
✔Test skincare, hair care, oral care, toothpaste and other personal care products.
✔Conduct environmental monitoring of laboratory, production, filling and storage areas.
✔Collect and test purified water and manufacturing water samples according to approved procedures.
✔Prepare culture media and perform sterilization, growth-promotion testing and culture maintenance.
✔Support preservative-efficacy testing, stability studies and microbiological method validation.
✔Operate and maintain autoclaves, incubators, laminar airflow units, colony counters and laboratory equipment.
✔Maintain accurate worksheets, logbooks, test reports, SOPs and microbiology records.
✔Investigate OOS results, deviations and contamination incidents and support CAPA implementation.
✔Ensure compliance with GMP, GLP, laboratory-safety and data-integrity requirements.
✔Coordinate with QA, QC, Production and R&D teams, support audits and guide junior laboratory staff.

Required Skills
✔Strong knowledge of cosmetic and personal care microbiology.
✔Hands-on experience with microbial limit and pathogen testing.
✔Proficiency in aseptic techniques, media preparation and culture handling.
✔Knowledge of environmental monitoring and water-system microbiology.
✔Understanding of GMP, GLP, SOPs and data-integrity practices.
✔Experience with OOS investigations, root-cause analysis, deviations and CAPA.
✔Ability to operate standard microbiology laboratory equipment.
✔Strong analytical, documentation and problem-solving skills.
✔Ability to coordinate laboratory activities and guide junior team members.
✔Good written and verbal communication skills.

Educational Qualification
✔B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Microbiology from a recognized university.
✔Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceuticals, FMCG or a related manufacturing industry.
✔Experience in cosmetic or personal care manufacturing will be preferred.
