Key Responsibilities
✔Execute routine and complex microbiological analysis of raw materials, in-process bulk, packaging, and finished cosmetic products.
✔Perform pathogen isolation and microbial limit testing (MLT) for E. coli, S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, and C. albicans per Indian Standards (IS), BIS, and ISO protocols.
✔Conduct Preservative Efficacy Testing (PET) / Challenge Testing on new skincare and personal care formulations.
✔Manage environmental monitoring programs across manufacturing bays and cleanrooms using settle plates, air samplers, and surface swabs.
✔Conduct bioburden and total organic carbon testing on Purified Water and RO supply loops.
✔Validate and calibrate microbiology laboratory equipment (autoclaves, incubators, biosafety cabinets, LAF hoods).
✔Maintain reference strain cultures, execute media preparation, and oversee Growth Promotion Testing (GPT).
✔Lead Out of Specification (OOS) / Out of Trend (OOT) investigations and drive root cause analysis (RCA) to implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
✔Maintain strict Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) documentation, SOPs, and analytical certificates.
✔Serve as the technical microbiology lead during regulatory inspections, client audits, and ISO 22716 compliance verification.
Required Qualifications & Skills
✔Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology, or Biotechnology.
✔Experience: Minimum 3+ years in QC microbiology within a cosmetic, personal care, FMCG, or pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in India.
✔Technical Knowledge: Hands-on mastery of ISO 22716 (Cosmetics GMP), BIS requirements, PET testing, MLT, and aseptic lab techniques.
✔Lab Equipment: Proficiency operating autoclaves, colony counters, incubators, and LAF hoods.
✔Quality & Audits: Proven ability to manage OOS/OOT investigations, CAPA tracking, and regulatory audit compliance.
