Key Responsibilities
✔Lead microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished cosmetic products
✔Oversee microbial limit testing (MLT), preservative efficacy testing (PET), and pathogen screening
✔Design and manage environmental monitoring programs across manufacturing and packaging areas
✔Ensure ongoing compliance with GMP, ISO 22716, and regulatory microbiological standards
✔Own calibration and maintenance schedules for microbiology lab equipment and testing instruments
✔Review and approve microbiology test reports, logs, and documentation for accuracy and compliance
✔Lead root-cause investigations into microbial contamination, deviations, and OOS results
✔Drive validation of cleaning procedures and sanitation protocols
✔Partner with QA/QC and production teams to resolve product safety and quality issues
✔Manage microbial culture stock, media preparation, and sterility testing procedures
✔Represent the microbiology function during internal and external audits
✔Mentor junior lab staff and support their technical development
✔Maintain full documentation and traceability as per regulatory and client requirements
Required Skills
✔Strong knowledge of microbiological testing techniques and methodologies
✔Familiarity with GMP, ISO 22716, and cosmetic regulatory guidelines
✔Hands-on experience with microbial limit testing and preservative efficacy testing
✔Proficiency in environmental monitoring and contamination control practices
✔Working knowledge of lab equipment: autoclave, incubator, laminar air flow, microscope
✔Good documentation and report-writing skills
✔Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
✔Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
✔Basic computer proficiency (MS Excel, Word, LIMS software preferred)
✔Effective communication and cross-functional coordination skills
✔Proven ability to lead investigations and mentor junior team members
Educational Qualification
✔M.Sc. / B.Sc. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related life sciences field
✔Additional certification in GMP/Quality Assurance is an added advantage
Experience Required
✔3+ Years (Cosmetics, Personal Care, or Pharmaceutical Manufacturing preferred)
