Senior Microbiologist – Cosmetics & Personal Care Manufacturing

We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Microbiologist to support microbiological quality control at our manufacturing facility in Bavla. The candidate will perform microbial testing, environmental monitoring, laboratory documentation and quality-compliance activities for cosmetics and personal care products.

Key Responsibilities
✔Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, process water, bulk products and finished goods.
✔Conduct microbial limit, total viable count, yeast, mould and specified pathogen testing.
✔Test skincare, hair care, oral care, toothpaste and other personal care products.
✔Carry out environmental monitoring of laboratory, production, filling and storage areas.
✔Collect and test purified water and manufacturing water samples as per approved procedures.
✔Prepare culture media and perform sterilization, growth-promotion testing and culture maintenance.
✔Operate and maintain autoclaves, incubators, laminar airflow units, colony counters and related equipment.
✔Record test results accurately in worksheets, logbooks and microbiology laboratory reports.
✔Investigate out-of-specification results, deviations and contamination incidents; support CAPA activities.
✔Assist with preservative-efficacy testing, stability studies and microbiological method validation.
✔Follow approved SOPs, GMP, GLP, laboratory-safety and data-integrity requirements.
✔Coordinate with QA, QC, Production and R&D teams and support internal and external audits.

Required Skills
✔Strong knowledge of cosmetic and personal care microbiology.
✔Hands-on experience with microbial limit and pathogen testing.
✔Understanding of aseptic techniques, media preparation and culture handling.
✔Knowledge of environmental monitoring and water-system microbiology.
✔Familiarity with GMP, GLP, SOPs and laboratory-safety practices.
✔Ability to operate microbiology laboratory equipment accurately.
✔Understanding of OOS investigations, deviations, root-cause analysis and CAPA.
✔Strong documentation, observation and data-review skills.
✔Good communication, teamwork and time-management abilities.
✔Basic computer skills, including MS Office and laboratory data entry.

Educational Qualification
✔B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Microbiology from a recognized university.
✔Candidates should have 3+ years of relevant microbiology experience in cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceuticals, FMCG or a related manufacturing industry.
